lethemusicplay - Waves (RAC Remix)

letthemusicplay - Waves (RAC Remix)

Not much is known about letthemusicplay other than they fear capitalisation & they’re based out of London. Their anonymity could be easily derided as a gimmick if there output so far wasn’t so promising. Blog-fuelling rumours that the group is comprised of ‘some of the biggest names in electronic music’ aside, the music is great & I look forward to hearing more. Head over to their Soundcloud for free downloads of not only their first two releases, Waves & Space, but also some pretty solid remixes, among them this RAC number.

RAC are as, as always, great. I’ve yet to be disappointed by any of their releases. If you haven’t already head to their Soundcloud & get in about their amazing back catalogue of tracks, most of which are available to download for free.

Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack (Viceroy 'Jet Life" Remix)

Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack (Viceroy ‘Jet Life’ Remix)

An amazing remix by Viceroy breathing life into Mark Morrison’s 90’s Classic, Return of the Mack. I initially considered this a bit of a novelty track, the use of a somewhat cheesy 90’s sample is done way to often for comedic effect, but I think here it’s been done right & the mix has found its way into regular rotation in my playlists. A definite summer track.

Viceroy’s Soundcloud contains a wealth of material, both original & remixes, available for download. Wiz Khalifa’s This Plane also receives the ‘Jet Life’ treatment & comes highly recommended.

Troumaca - Thousand Years

Troumaca - Thousand Years

Although getting some major press in NME this month, this band were first brought to my attention by my rather talented friend, Ellie Hopkins, a few months ago & I’ve been playing them regularly since. Thousand years is a great track in particular but there is plenty more tracks available & worth checking out on the band’s Soundcloud

Dream Jefferson - Vampyroteuthis

Dream Jefferson - Vampyroteuthis

Because everyone should have at least one electro hip-hop track about vampire squid in their life.

Dream Jefferson have two EPs available to download free at their Bandcamp. I highly recommend downloading both ‘Punch Perm’ & the brilliantly titled ‘Sasquatch Bury Their Dead’.

Vasa - Demo

Vasa - Jigsawng

Vasa, a literally days-old band, provide an awesome piece of post-rock with their very first demo.

RAC - Nintendo Vs Sega 2

Sonic The Hedgehog - Chemical Plant Zone (RAC Remix).

Continuing with another video game music post is RAC’s second ‘Nintendo Vs Sega’ EP. RAC’s remixes are consistently excellent & these 16-bit era inspired tracks are no different. While Sonic The Hedgehog 2’s Chemical Plant Zone remains my personal favourite I implore you to check out the rest, including cuts from the soundtracks of Mario Kart, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Contra & Streets of Rage.

The first & second ‘Nintendo Vs Sega’ EPs are available, for free, here & here.

Pance Party - Rainbow Road

Pance Party - Rainbow Road.

Despite having one of the lamest names in band history Pance Party have provided an awesome, Mario Kart inspired track. Reminds me of my continual inability to complete the short cut at the start of the track in the N64 version.

The Rainbow Road EP is available in its entirity, for free, here.
